A link showing it's entierty an example is http://www.beseenwebdesign.com/portfolio.html. meaning that this link could be placed anywhere and it would always point to the same location as opposed to a relative link.
Access log
An access log is a list of all the requests for individual files that people have requested from a Web site. Such a log is valuable in understanding more about who is visiting your website and what visitors are viewing on your website.
Aggregator
A collector of information about a topic or idea. An aggregator an be a person, blog, or website. Technology speaking, RSS is an aggreation format for individual blog. Google News is an example of a website that aggregates news for many sources.

Refers to the position on an element (text or images) on a web page. Positioning could be left, center or right.

Alpha user is a social media marketing term which means a user who has many connections and a large presence online. This person would be the best match to spread the word about your message/product using social media.

Specifically web anaytics. A tool that collects data on a web site users behavior.Web Analytics s the process of collection, measurement and analysis of user's activity on a website or application to understand and help achieve the intended goals of the website.
Examples of programs that can do this are Google Analytics and Webtrends.

A GIF graphic file, consisting of two or more images in sequence, timed to give the effect of motion

Stands for application programming interface. API's are used by programmers to build a software application or connect two software programs in which they can commnicate.

A file that combines a number of other files into one for the purpose of transfer or back up. These are often compressed.
ASCII
Stands for American Standard Code for Information Exchange. A set 128 alphanumeric and special control characters used for computer storing and printing of text.
ASF
Stands for Advanced Streaming Format. A multimedia streaming format
ASP
Stands for Active Server Page. It's an interactive web page that was created using ASP code. An example would be when you do on-line banking and you put your password in and the website knows to open your account and show it to you.
Atom
An XML-based file format that produces a list of recent posts on a blog that can be read by a news reader software. The Atom "feed" can contain titles, tex, information from posts, and links.
Authentication
A method used to identify a user, program or computer on the web.
Authenticity
A feeling that someone online is real. For example bloggers sometimes post funny stories about themselves, so their readers remember they are real people.
Auto Responder
An auto responder is a type of E-mail that automatically replies with a standard message to anyone who sends mail to it. They can be used as E-mail brochures to easily disseminate information to interested customers about specific products, new product announcements, or your company. They can also inform the sender that a message has been received.
